18-year-old dies nearly one month after crash in downtown Rockford

ROCKFORD — Nearly one month after a three-car crash in Rockford, an 18-year-old man has died.

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office was called to a local hospital Saturday afternoon for a man who died after being involved in a crash.

The coroner's office identified the victim as 18-year-old Oswaldo Leon-Victoria.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 5 at the intersection of N. Winnebago and W. Jefferson streets.

The coroner's office said Leon-Victoria was driving southbound on N. Winnebago Street when his vehicle was hit by two cars driving westbound on W. Jefferson Street.

Leon-Victoria was taken to the hospital following the crash with multiple injuries.

The coroner's office said Leon-Victoria died from blunt force trauma of the head, chest and abdomen.

The crash is still under investigation and police have not announced any charges at this time.
