18-year-old dies in East Westwood crash, 2 others critically injured, police say

An 18-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle crash in East Westwood early Sunday.

A Cincinnati police unit responded to 2057 Westwood Northern Boulevard at approximately 12:27 a.m. to investigate a fatal injury crash, according to a news release.

A 28-year-old man was operating a 2023 Nissan Sentra eastbound on Westwood Northern Boulevard before driving off the road and striking a tree. There were five additional occupants in the vehicle: two 29-year-old women, a 19-year-old woman, an 18-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl.

The 18-year-old sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. She has yet to be identified by police.

The driver and the rest of the occupants were transported by the Cincinnati Fire Department to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The driver and two passengers are listed with non-life-threatening injuries. The two remaining passengers are listed in critical condition.

Excessive speed and impairment are being investigated as factors in the crash and seat belts were not utilized by the driver or passengers, police said.
