17-year-old arrested in Constitution Avenue shooting

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A 17-year-old was arrested on Wednesday, April 17, in connection to a shooting in March that injured an adult, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD said officers originally responded to a reported shooting in the 5500 block of Constitution Avenue, near Powers Boulevard, around 2 p.m. on March 18. When they arrived, officers found an adult victim suffering from a serious but non life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital.

The CSPD Assault unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation, identifying a 17-year-old from Colorado Springs as the suspect. On Wednesday, April 17, officers arrested the teen in the 200 block of Rim View Drive, near South Rockrimmon Drive.

The teen is currently being held for First Degree Assault and Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile.
