It's not that I don't think men are capable of love. It's just that it seems like I so rarely hear them talking about it in the same sort of gushy, sugary ways that women feel comfortable doing. Which is a bummer! Because we should all be able to talk about our mushiest, most cheesy feelings out loud, in public, for all the world to read and hear. So to add a few much-needed male voices to the conversation about ~love~, here's what love feels like to 17 millennial men.

1. "Love feels like the moment when the weekend sun wakes you with gentle heat and light through your bed sheet." - Brendan, 24

2. "Love feels like being able to fart in front of someone else, and both of you finding it hilarious." - Alex, 26

3. "I've only truly loved one woman. Here's how I knew: I have a bad shoulder. It bothers the living hell out of me all the time. I can't sleep on my left side because of it. But I did when I was laying in bed next to her, with my arms wrapped around her and my shoulder throbbing. I didn't dare move because I didn't want to wake her. I would rather ache all night and barely get a wink of sleep." - Xander, 25

4. "Love feels like nothing else matters in the universe but the person you love's happiness. Love is knowing that nothing else in the world could make you feel any better, and wanting to make that other person feel that exact same way." - Kevin, 24

5. "Love can be debilitating, yet energising. It was debilitating because he had this weird hold on me that made it difficult to think and act rationally - I almost failed a class because I was always with him. But it was energising because I liked having someone to share things with - memories, intimate moments, feelings, food, etc. It was probably the only time in my entire life that I never truly felt alone and that got me through some dark times." - Kim, 25

6. "Love feels like sharing a blunt, except the high doesn't really go away afterwards. It's hard to understand why things are the way they are, but you kind of don't care when love is in the picture." - Mel, 20

7. "Nothing else matters. You and her are untouchable." - Jan, 18

8. "Love feels like you finally got to be who you're supposed to be." - Nate, 26

9. "It feels like someone is always touching your hair softly." - Jonatán, 28

10. "For me it's like there's a ton of rubber bands attaching our souls and if we ever start to separate in any way, the resistance from the rubber bands pulls us back to each other. It's a force than can only be felt, not understood. I know it's a cliché and I hate it but it really feels like we're two parts of a whole. It's weird being gushy." - Reagan, 22

11. "It's like being horny and vulnerable at the same time." - Cole, 24

12. "Love feels like breakfast for dinner, or like the other side of the pillow." - Roger, 31

13. "Love is a more nuanced form of support. A step past trust. A kind of innate preference that grows until it's wrapped up in most thoughts, most decisions - even when they have nothing otherwise to do with the person you love. Being in love takes the fears and anxieties of everyday life and coats them in something more bearable. It doesn't fix everything, nor should it; it's a comfort and a natural extension of what's already good in life, just amplified." - Zack, 28

14. "Love feels like the big reveal at the end of a good film. You're surprised it happens, but when you look back, all the signs are there." - Stephen, 31

15. "Love feels like when you're at a wedding and you're not quite ready to dance but then 'Dancing Queen' comes on and it's all over." - Matt, 26

16. "Love feels like hitting an ice patch in winter, you slide, you're scared, but you don't fall." - Christian, 27

15. "It feels all encompassing, and it truly allows you to let your guard down. It is also terrifying because it can cut you deeply and hurt you." - Jezzy, 26

16. "Being in love feels like how Lonestar's 'Amazed' sounds." - Aleks, 26

17. "Love feels like a compliment that never ends." - Adrian, 27
