This 150-MPH Subaru WRX STI Isle of Man Flyby Has to Be Seen to Be Believed

From Road & Track

It's no surprise that the 550-horse WRX STI built by Subaru and the geniuses at Prodrive is blazingly fast. Even still, videos of rally driver Mark Higgins wrestle it around the Isle of Man TT are hard to wrap your brain around. There's something about flying by stone walls and country houses at 150 mph that's utterly mind blowing.

Higgins posted a video of a flyby to his Twitter account that we can't stop watching. We're jaded by videos of people doing crazy things in fast cars, but even we can't help but have a visceral reaction to this clip.

This car was purpose-built to destroy the lap record for cars as the Isle of Man TT. Last year in a semi-stock WRX STI, Higgins lapped the course with an average speed of 117 mph; This year, he managed an average speed of 128.730 mph. For reference, the fastest motorcycle lap ever at the TT had an average speed of 132.701 mph.

In other words, Higgins and the WRX are fast. Seriously fast.

We've already driven (and kinda sorta broken) this WRX STI, but this isn't the last you'll see of it. We'll be joining Higgins and Subaru at the TT later this week, and we might have some more fun things planned in the coming weeks. Watch this space.
