15 Best Year-End New-Car Deals

While Black Friday weekend may get all the attention for being a bargain shopper’s Shangri-La, the days ahead are widely held to be the best in the year to buy a new car. Manufacturer’s year-end promotions are in full swing, and car dealers are eager to cut deals and clear their stocks, especially on slow-selling models and last year’s leftover inventory, to end 2015 on a high note and help meet annual sales goals.

The luxury brands in particular are making deals in earnest this time of year, with major ad campaigns that, for better or worse, involve the gracious giving of big, expensive cars with gargantuan gift bows affixed to them. According to Experian Automotive, more than 10 percent of all luxury vehicle registrations between 2010 and 2014 occurred in December, and this year should be no exception.

The week between Christmas and New Year’s Day is traditionally the period in which astute vehicle shoppers can strike some of the sweetest new-car deals possible. Specifically, analysts agree that those who go out car shopping on New Year’s Eve will likely obtain the best deals of the month, with the next-best days in that regard being December 27-30, and especially Christmas Eve, when few patrons tend to come walking through a dealership’s front door.

Unfortunately, given this year’s robust sales, year-end bargain hunters might not find a particularly diverse inventory from which to choose. As dictated by the law of supply and demand, unpopular and overstocked models – particularly remaining 2015 inventory models that are being redesigned for 2016 – should tend to be offered with the deepest discounts.
