$15,000 bet opens new Silverton Circa Sports location
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Silverton Casino Lodge opened its Circa-branded sportsbook on Monday, taking a $15,000 bet on women’s college basketball to get the action started.
Bettor David McCovy stepped up to the window just after a ribbon-cutting ceremony, placing a money-line wager on Oklahoma to beat Iowa State. With Oklahoma favored, he would have won $10,000 — but Iowa State won, 85-68.
The new 1,600-square-foot sportsbook, just inside the casino through the parking garage, arrives right on time for March Madness. Derek Stevens, CEO of Circa Sports, was on hand to see the ninth Circa Sports satellite — six in Nevada and three out of state — open with the big event right around the corner.
“We wanted to be open as soon as possible. We would have liked to have been open a year ago,” Stevens said. “But the way timing is, this is a pretty big project. We’re excited to be opening right before March Madness.”
The explosion in sports betting has been nationwide, with a lot of attention to mobile betting. But sports books still make a lot of sense in Nevada’s casinos, and Stevens continues to build the Circa Sports brand.
“Our goal is to build great sportsbooks and have everybody enjoy them,” he said.
And there’s no doubt that sportsbooks are still a big attraction.
After putting his money on the Oklahoma women, McCovy showed us his ticket and said, “I love the Circa brand because Derek lets you bet and lets you do your thing. I have a couple of properties in town so this is actually closer to my other home, so I’m here all the time.”
Betting limits are the same for everyone, whether they’re a novice or a sharp.
The Silverton sportsbook has a unique setup, with four six-person booths facing the video screens. There are also smaller tables, 12 lounge chairs and 24 bar-top games ringing the outside. More casino games in the area give players a great view of the action while they’re playing.
“I was just talking with the Silverton management team. These slots that they have around the outside of the book are going to be monsters for them. I’m very sure about that,” Stevens said.
Designed by Tré Builders, the sportsbook also features:
A Daktronics screen that can be configured to show games from all major sports leagues and other streaming services
Three betting windows
Three self-service betting kiosks, odds boards and betting sheet racks
ADA-compliant seating
Food service from Johnny Rockets and WuHu Noodle
Five parking spots in Silverton’s garage reserved for Circa Sports guests
The Silverton is getting ready to open a new $10 million pool for guests to go along with a $40 million hotel remodel. It’s a locals casino at Blue Diamond Road and I-15 known mostly for its partnership with Bass Pro Shops and a free mermaid show in a 117,000-gallon aquarium.
