146 combined charges for 3 after drug bust at Parkway Village hotel

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three people are facing dozens of charges after a drug bust at a Parkway Village hotel revealed large amounts of illegal weapons and narcotics, police say.

According to an affidavit, on Thursday afternoon at around 1 p.m., several police units executed a narcotics search warrant at 3896 Lamar Avenue.

Dewayne Dukes was the target of the warrant, but two others, Morgan Matheson and Dylisha Lovelady, were also found inside. All three suspects were taken into custody.

A detective on the scene said that during Dukes’ arrest, he told officers that Matheson and Lovelady had “nothing to do with the room.”

A search of the hotel room revealed a large amount of drugs and guns.

Several duffle bags, firearms, and narcotics were found in the ceiling tiles above the toilet in the bathroom. It was determined that the narcotics found were fentanyl, oxycodone, ecstasy, methamphetamine, and crack cocaine.

Along with the drugs, 13 firearms and 7 scales were also found in the hotel room.

Below is a list of the total amount of narcotics found during the drug bust, according to police.

  • Fentanyl – 15.4 grams

  • Cocaine – 7 grams

  • Ecstasy (MDMA) – 171 pills

  • Methamphetamine – 35.1 grams

  • Oxycodone – 132.5 pills

  • Marijuana – 568.6 grams

Three thousand dollars was recovered from Matheson, but she allegedly told detectives that Dukes handed her the money when he entered the hotel room. Eleven hundred dollars was also found in Dukes’ pockets. The money was believed to be drug proceeds and was seized.

Dewayne Dukes and Morgan Matheson are each facing 53 drug-related charges. Those charges are listed below.

  • 13 counts of convicted felon in possession of a handgun

  • 13 counts of unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon

  • 13 counts of possessing a firearm during commission/attempt to commit a dangerous felony

  • 7 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia

  • Theft of firearm less than $2,500

  • Possession of methamphetamine felony

  • Possession of cocaine with intent

  • Possession of marijuana with intent

  • 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent

Dylisha Lovelady is facing 40 drug-related charges. Those charges are listed below.

  • 13 counts of possessing a firearm during commission/attempt to commit a dangerous felony

  • 13 counts of unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon

  • 7 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia

  • Theft of firearm less than $2,500

  • Possession of methamphetamine felony

  • Possession of cocaine with intent

  • Possession of ecstacy with intent

  • Possession of marijuana with intent

  • 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent

Dukes has a criminal history involving drugs. In 2017 he was convicted for possession of cocaine with intent to manufacture/deliver/sell, and was sentenced to four years and six months confinement.

Reports say he had multiple felony warrants for possession of cocaine with intent, petition to revoke suspended sentence, driving with suspended/revoked license, and possession of a controlled substance with intent.

Matheson also showed to be a convicted felon. In 2022, she pleaded guilty to theft of property $10,000-$60,000, and was sentenced to two years and six months supervised release.

Dukes, Matheson, and Lovelady are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
