LESSOR, Wis. (WFRV) – A 13-year-old girl died at the scene of an ATV crash on a private property in Shawano County on Wednesday night.

Deputies say that when first responders arrived at the private property, CPR was immediately given and a ThedaStar Helicopter was immediately requested. Multiple crews performed life-saving measures on the 13-year-old girl. However, due to injuries sustained in the crash, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

After an initial investigation, authorities determined that the girl was the driver and the only one on the ATV when the crash happened. One witness who was at the scene at the time of the incident was able to provide “clarity as to how the accident occurred.”

Deputies say that all involved parties, including the 13-year-old’s parents, have been cooperative with law enforcement.

“This is an extremely tragic incident and for the privacy of all involved including the juvenile’s family, we will not be releasing any names,” stated the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office. It was noted in the release that the teen was a student in the Village of Bonduel. Additional support and services are being provided on Thursday morning within all Bonduel schools.
