13-year-old girl in critical condition after being hit by car on Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton

APPLETON – Police say a 13-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Badger and Wisconsin avenues Wednesday night.

According to the Appleton Police Department, shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, the girl was trying to cross the intersection from north to south when a vehicle headed east on Wisconsin Avenue, which had a green light, drove through the intersection and hit her.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and the driver is cooperating with authorities.

As of Thursday afternoon, the girl remains hospitalized, police said.
