120 dogs removed from Rochester home in hoarding case. Fosters, donations needed

Authorities rescued 120 dogs from a home on Leopard Street on Tuesday, and now the Humane Society of Greater Rochester is looking for emergency foster homes and other assistance.

The animals were removed after a hoarding investigation, according to Lollypop Farm Humane Law Enforcement, who executed the warrant, with help from the Animal Emergency Response Team.

It took some 12 hours to remove all the dogs, including older adult animals and very young puppies, authorities said.

The dogs are now being boarded at the society's Lollypop Farm in Fairport and being assessed, according to an appeal for help on the Human Society's website. Some of the dogs may have medical or behavorial issues.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges were immediately announced.

Authorities are asking for the public's help through donations and looking for emergency fosters for the animals.

The Humane Society is also looking for donations to fund medical care, supplies and other needs. Donations can be made here.

Looking to donate supplies? "In addition to towels, blankets, and flat sheets there are many supplies that are needed to work with these dogs at the shelter," the site reads. While the supplies can be donate, the society also has an Amazon Wishlist, which allows donors to buy specific items and send them directly to the shelter.
