12-year-old St. Charles boy remains on life support after crash

Update: Travis Wolfe has passed away.

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – A St. Louis family is dealing with heartache months after a car accident sent six people to the hospital, including a 12-year-old boy.

Travis Wolfe’s family said Travis is on life support with brain injuries, months later.

Travis is a typical St. Louis kid. He’s a Cardinals fan, a football fan, and he loves hockey.

“(The family) are huge Blues fans. Every time, I would hear about them going to a Blues game. But (Travis) was big on baseball. I have never played catch with somebody so much before,” Dusty Wildman, Travis’ brother-in-law, said.

A car accident on Dec. 20 changed their family forever, according to Wildman. It was the night before Travis’ 12th birthday.

“He hit his head on the window and possibly the roof as well,” Wildman said. “So, he’s got damage in his brain stem and his brain as well.”

Travis was rushed to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, with his parents taken to a different hospital for their injuries. His dad had broken wrists and ribs, while his mom had a broken ankle and sternum.

“For the first two weeks after the accident, Tim and Steph hadn’t even gotten to see Travis cause they were stuck at big Mercy,” Wildman said.

The future remains unclear, as Travis is still on life support. In the meantime, medical bills continue to stack. The extended family is planning an event to benefit the family.

“It’s going to be just all of us coming together to raise money for this family that we’re apart of,” Karl Remick, event organizer, said.

Remick is helping organize the event on March 24 at STL Throwdowns.

“There’s going to be a bunch of raffles, there’s going to be a bunch of big prizes, we’re going to auction off some Chief’s tickets for the football season,” he said.

“Everybody is coming together to try to create this event, not only about raising money but just coming together. Showing that they are cared for and loved,” Wildman said.
