Aamir Khan has been in the news for all the right reasons this year. Aamir was recently honoured in Delhi for creating awareness against social discrimination through his television show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. The honour was conferred by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes. Through the 13-week series ‘Satyamev Jayate,’ the actor brought forth startling facts and statistics related to female foeticide, child sex abuse, medical malpractice, manual scavenging, dowry, and other social ills. He followed it up off screen by meeting concerned leaders to ensure that the problems are resolved. Aamir received his share of praise and brickbats, but he was determined to drive home some awareness.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, who was at the ceremony where he was honoured, lauded the channel's efforts of conceptualizing a show like ‘Satyamev Jayate’ and giving people a platform to talk about their struggles. She has also urged the star and the channel to bring a new season of the TV show.
Aamir’s ardent fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the psychological thriller ‘Talaash’ where he plays a cop. The film is slated for a November 30th release and also stars Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor.
