107 more coronavirus cases have been reported across Maine
May 29—Another 107 coronavirus cases have been reported across the state, Maine health officials said Saturday.
The number of coronavirus cases diagnosed in the past 14 days statewide is 2,128. This is an estimation of the current number of active cases in the state, as the Maine CDC is no longer tracking recoveries for all patients. That's down from 2,196 on Friday.
No new deaths were reported Saturday, leaving the statewide death toll standing at 825.
Saturday's report brings the total number of coronavirus cases in Maine to 67,651, according to the Maine CDC. That's up from 67,544 on Friday.
Of those, 48,558 have been confirmed positive, while 18,093 were classified as "probable cases," the Maine CDC reported.
The new case rate statewide Saturday was 0.8 cases per 10,000 residents, and the total case rate statewide was 505.46.
Maine's seven-day average for new coronavirus cases is 116.4, down from 123.1 a day ago, down from 192.9 a week ago and down from 305.1 a month ago. That average peaked on Jan. 14 at 625.3.
The most cases have been detected in Mainers younger than 20, while Mainers over 80 years old make up the majority of deaths. More cases and deaths have been recorded in women than men.
So far, 2,013 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point with COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus. Of those, 114 are currently hospitalized with 44 in critical care and 20 on a ventilator. Overall, 83 out of 384 critical care beds and 237 out of 319 ventilators are available. Meanwhile, 473 alternative ventilators are available.

The total statewide hospitalization rate on Saturday was 15.04 patients per 10,000 residents.
Cases have been reported in Androscoggin (8,252), Aroostook (1,851), Cumberland (17,093), Franklin (1,335), Hancock (1,349), Kennebec (6,471), Knox (1,130), Lincoln (1,057), Oxford (3,562), Penobscot (6,134), Piscataquis (565), Sagadahoc (1,458), Somerset (2,178), Waldo (1,019), Washington (894) and York (13,303) counties.

An additional 5,230 Mainers have been vaccinated against the coronavirus in the previous 24 hours. As of Saturday, 714,165 Mainers have received a first dose of the vaccine, while 696,663 have received a final dose.
As of Saturday morning, the coronavirus had sickened 33,240,448 people in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as caused 593,962 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
