10-year-old bicyclist struck by driver in Dublin, suffers ‘significant’ injuries

(KRON) — A 10-year-old boy was injured after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning, the Dublin Police Department announced in a news release. Around 8:05 a.m., he was riding his bicycle westbound on Davona Drive near Chatam Street.

A vehicle that was going eastbound on Davona Drive then crashed into the young bicyclist, police said.

The boy suffered “significant injuries.” He is currently being treated at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland.

The driver remained at the scene of the accident and is cooperating with the police investigation. Police said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.

Both the bicyclist’s and driver’s identities are not being released at this time.

The crash happened a few blocks away from Dublin High School. Dublin police say anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call 925-833-6670.
