10 most popular audiobooks at San Diego County Library

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — In the digital era, some lovers of literacy have opted for audio books, with many now enjoying story-telling on the go.

The San Diego County Library has supported the evolution of book culture, offering readers and listeners access to upwards of 1,000 different titles in audio form.

It’s as easy as downloading the library app called Libby and getting set up with an instant digital card.

Locals can receive immediate access to the county’s digital eLibrary resources, including ebooks and audiobooks, by signing up on a mobile device with an active phone number.

From there, the next move would be deciding which audiobook is worth listening to. Here’s a look at the top 10 most popular at the county library as of April 2024:

No. 10 — “The Teacher” by Freida McFadden: This book has been described as “a chilling story of twisted secrets and long-awaited revenge.” It involves a scandal involving a student-teacher affair.

No. 9 — “Iron Flame” by Rebecca Yarros: This is the second book the Empyrean series with the library suggesting that listeners and readers start with the first book which is titled “Fourth Wing.”

No. 8 — “The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store” by James McBride: This book was named “best book of the year” by NPR/Fresh Air, The Washington Post, The New Yorker and Time Magazine.

No. 7 — “The Covenant of Water” by Abraham Verghese: This book remained on the New York Times bestseller list for over two years. It’s set in Kerala, South India, following three generations of a family.
