Mother Teresa, the founder of the Missionaries of Charity has inspired millions with her legacy. The Missionaries of Charity is a Roman Catholic religious congregation, who run hospices and homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis; soup kitchens; dispensaries and mobile clinics; children’s and family counseling programmes; orphanages; and schools.

Mother Teresa’s canonisation is scheduled for September 4, 2016, a day before the 19th anniversary of her death. In March, Pope Francis had announced that Mother Teresa will be elevated to sainthood after the Church recognised two miracles attributed to her after her death in 1997.

Also known as ‘Blessed Teresa of Calcutta’, she dedicated over six decades of her life in the slums of Calcutta spreading peace, humanity and unconditional love. She set an example for everybody by devoting her life to service of the needy and the orphaned.
