10 Insane Celebrity Conspiracy Theories Lurking On The Internet

We’ve all heard the phrase “don’t believe everything you read in the papers”, but the internet is the main place for news these days and it is a much bigger mistress with plenty of space for wild and wacky stories.

Whether you believe some of the crazy conspiracy theories that have been bandied about over the years, such as claims 9/11 was an “inside job” or that Prince Harry’s father is actually James Hewitt, you cannot help but be wowed by them.

One of the latest in a long line of such dubious suppositions reared its attractive head recently when a Reddit user shared a picture of a young Dame Helen Mirren and a recent snap of Jennifer Lawrence who bore a striking resemblance to the legendary actress.

The post, entitled ‘Helen Mirren is like Jennifer Lawrence of the seventies’, attracted more than 1,500 comments in a day and had plenty of people agreeing with the poster, JIkapomycc, that the pair do look alike.

It’s not even the first time J-Law’s likeness to Mirren in her heyday has been pointed out. In 2013, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart started his interview with the Hunger Games actress, 25, by suggesting she looks like a younger version of the now 70-year-old star.

Jennifer shrugged off the suggestion. But Jon tried out his theory once again a month later when he had her X-Men co-star Ian McKellan on his show. But, like Lawrence, he played down the resemblance saying they didn’t “particularly” look like each other.

This begs the question - are they all in on it or is it just a celeb coincidence?

One site, Celebrity Cafe, has questioned whether many of Hollywood’s big stars are in fact clones, shooting a glance to the likeness between Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel, and Elijah Wood’s facial similarities to Mischa Barton?!

Could they be a product of a big Hollywood gene pool? It seems ridiculous on the face of it, but this certainly isn’t the most shocking celebrity conspiracy theory around.

Ronan Farrow and Ol’ Blue Eyes

While people aren’t saying J-Law could be Mirren’s daughter, Ronan Farrow and Frank Sinatra have long been the subjects of a paternity conspiracy theory.

Some believe the 28-year-old former government advisor, the son of Frank’s ex Mia Farrow, is in fact the son of Ol’ Blue Eyes rather than Hollywood actor Woody Allen.

Actress Mia tends to dodge questions about Ronan’s parentage but in 2013 she admitted Frank is “possibly” Ronan’s father. Cue the internet going into overdrive.

Following the furore, Ronan tried to play down his mother’s comments by tweeting: “Listen, we’re all *possibly* Frank Sinatra’s son.”

Just last year, the hard-to-believe rumours were still being talked about, but were quashed by Sinatra’s daughters Tina and Nancy, with the latter saying her legendary father - who died in 1998 aged 82 - would just “laugh off” such speculation.

Beyoncé Is Solange’s Mother

Another outlandish celebrity parenting conspiracy theory is that Beyonce Knowles is actually her sister Solange’s MOTHER rather than her sibling.

The National Enquirer reported on the crazy claim, which alleges that the pair’s parents Matthew and Tina “pretended” Solange was theirs to help Bey out when she apparently fell pregnant at a young age.

A report read: “Rather than have [Beyoncé] suffer the shame of an unwed pregnancy, her parents pretended that Solange was actually their child.”

But this would appear to mean 34-year-old Beyonce would’ve been five years old when she gave birth to 29-year-old Solange? There’s an argument for that, too, as some claim the Halo hitmaker was born in 1974 rather than 1981.

An article on the aptly-named thetruthaboutcelebrities blog features a post from a “former employee at Columbia Records” who happened to see a “picture of her driver’s license that was on my manager’s computer”.

What’s more, actress Gabrielle Union, who is 43 - nine years older than Bey - once revealed in an interview that she and Beyonce have been friends since they were “teenagers”, unintentionally adding some fuel to the Solange speculation.

Khloe Kardashian’s Dad Is…

But Ronan and Frank, and Beyonce and Solange are not the only stars at the centre of a paternity conspiracy theory.

One much talked about rumour involves, like it or not, one of the most famous families on the planet at the moment - the Kardashians.

When the Kardashians first rose to prominence in 2007 after that Kim Kardashian and Ray J sex tape was leaked online, Khloe Kardashian was labelled the “fat sister” in comparison to her elder siblings Kourtney and Kim.

With that came the conspiracy theory that the trio’s late father Robert Kardashian - who died of cancer in 2003 aged 59 - was not her real dad, and it is rumoured that disgraced former American footballer and Robert’s pal O.J. Simpson is really her father.

The Kardashian family have denied the speculation time and time again and, of course, they even used the supposition to their advantage in 2012 by basing it around a storyline on 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ when Khloe’s mother Kris Jenner tried to get her to take a paternity test.

Robert was famously Simpson’s defence lawyer in his 1995 murder trial, in which the sportsman was found not guilty of murdering his ex-wife and Kris’ best friend Nicole Brown Simpson.

But last year, a retired prison guard quoted O.J. - who is in jail for armed robbery - as saying he wasn’t Khloe’s dad because would “never” do such a thing to his pal Robert.

Michael Jackson’s 'Chemical Castration’

While Khloe was shamed as being the Kardashians’ “fat sister”, Michael Jackson was ridiculed in later life for his skin, which appeared to gradually get paler from the mid-1980s, looking quite different to his brothers.

The late King of Pop - a member of the black American group The Jackson 5 with his siblings - was rumoured to have bleached his skin, but later insisted he had vitiligo, but it’s not the only outrageous assumption to have been made about him.

Dr. Alain Branchereau, professor of vascular surgery at Timone University Hospital, Marseilles, claimed the music legend - who died in June 2009 aged 50 - was chemically castrated aged 12 using a male hormone drug cyproterone, which explained why his voice didn’t “mature”.

The French doctor made the crazy claims in a book, Michael Jackson: The Secret of a Voice, in which he believes the cyproterone may have been used as a drastic cure for Jackson’s acne during his younger years.

Branchereau - who never had his claims confirmed by Jackson’s people - said: “The drug blocks puberty, the voice can’t mature. Michael Jackson never stopped singing.”

Paul McCartney Died In A Car Crash

Other conspiracy theories surrounding Jackson including the age old “he didn’t actually die in 2009”, with some believing his death to be a hoax because he was in debt.

Well if Jackson is alive then surely it’s possible that Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney is dead, with some saying he actually died in a car crash in 1966 and was replaced by a lookalike.

While this sounds extremely bizarre, there are people who just won’t Let It Be and cling on to “evidence” from some of the Fab Four’s songs.

In one tune, Strawberry Fields Forever, conspiracy theorists claim Paul’s co-frontman John Lennon can be heard singing “I buried Paul” in the final section of the song, but the 73-year-old star later insisted his bandmate was saying “cranberry sauce”.

What’s more, an even more peculiar claim is that if you play the Beatles song I’m so Tired backwards you can hear Lennon - who was shot dead in December 1980 aged 40 - singing: “Paul is dead, I miss him, I miss him.”

We’re not convinced.

Tupac And Elvis Are Alive

While some believe McCartney to have met his maker, other conspiracy theorists think a number of music legends who have passed to the other side are in fact still knocking around somewhere on planet earth.

Elvis Presley died in August 1977 aged 42 and while his passing was thought to be caused by a drug overdose at first an investigation was reopened in 1994 and the coroner ruled he died from a heart attack.

There are countless theories about the King of Rock 'n’ Roll’s death with theories claiming he faked his passing to boost record sales, or to live out the rest of his life in anonymity, and many people have claimed to have spotted him alive in the four decades since he left us.

Legendary rapper Tupac Shakur - who was gunned down in his car in 1996 - was also “spotted” earlier this year living in Cuba.

Website Reporterz, a “news and entertainment company”, claimed in January that the rapper has been in “hiding” since his death, and they even posted a “picture” of him and a recent shot of Rihanna, who was just eight years old when he was killed.

An article on the site claims there is no “record of a tribute or memorial” to Tupac and says there was “no funeral”.

It reads: “Tupac Shakur, who was supposedly killed at the age of 25 is now admitting he has been hiding this whole time.”

Another sighting of Tupac supposedly took place in New Zealand.

Cancerous Boots For Bob

One of the more craziest claims also centres around that of a dead celebrity and music legend - Bob Marley.

Some internet users believe the CIA killed the Sun Is Shining hitmaker by gifting him a pair of CANCEROUS BOOTS.

The story goes that in 1976 he was given a new pair of footwear which - unbeknown to Bob, who actually died from melanoma - contained a copper wire covered in a cancer-causing substance that poked him in the foot when he put the boots on.

The CIA are also rumoured to have taken out another singing sensation in Marilyn Monroe. According to some conspiracy theorists, she was killed by either the CIA, FBI or the Mafia for fears she might blab some of US President John F. Kennedy’s government secrets.

The pair are long rumoured to have had an affair and she famously sang Happy Birthday, Mr. President to him for his 45th birthday in May 1962 - just four months before she was found dead.

Britney Spears On George Bush’s Payroll

Another unbelievable political/singing sensation conspiracy theory alleges that Britney Spears’ infamous 2007 meltdown was in fact the result of then-US President George W. Bush dishing out some dollars to the pop princess to divert attention from any negative PR he was receiving.

The infamous incident saw a shaven-headed Britney, who had previously pleaded for privacy, lay siege to a paparazzo’s car with a green umbrella, which led to her receiving a conservatorship.

The crazy concept of Britney being on Bush’s books is backed up by conspiracy theorists linking various situations in his tenure to some of her antics.

In February 2007, she shaved her head after leaving rehab and took on the photographer’s car with her umbrella around the time Bush announced the reformation of international terrorist group al-Qaeda.

In January 2004, Britney married Jason Alexander but their association was annulled 55 hours later, which is around a similar time CIA operative Valerie Plame was exposed by officials in the Bush administration.

What’s more, Britney defended Bush on Michael Moore’s political documentary Fahrenheit 9/11.

Showbiz Stars Are Illuminati Members

Perhaps one of the biggest celebrity conspiracy theories of all, on a size scale, is that many showbiz stars are actually members of secret society the Illuminati.

Among those claimed to be a part of the group are Angelina Jolie, who starred as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, a movie featuring an Illuminati storyline.

As well as that, one completely crazy claim suggests her double mastectomy decision was partly to benefit the secret society-run pharmaceutical companies as it came around the time the Supreme Court approved the BRCA1 patent, which tests for the possibility of breast cancer.

Britney Spears is said to have featured Illuminati symbols in two of her music videos, for songs I Wanna Go and Work B*tch, as does Rihanna in her What Now music video and Kanye West in his Power video.

Rihanna and Beyonce are said to be fans of the group’s hand symbol, in which people make a shape of a diamond, and the latter even did one during her 2013 Super Bowl halftime show performance.

The Kardashian family’s 2013 Christmas card also has several of the society’s symbols on it, while Miley Cyrus has had some of the designs tattooed on her body.

Mind. Blown.
