UPDATE: Mobile man arrested after leading police on chase, wrecking into vehicle

UPDATE (7:32 p.m.): News 5 has learned more about a car crash on Interstate 10 near Exit 20 that slowed down traffic Tuesday afternoon.

According to a release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, an ALEA trooper observed a 2019 Toyota Highlander stopped on U.S. 29 near Azalea Road just after noon Tuesday.

A chase began on Interstate 65 and eventually onto Sailor Road and to Interstate 10.

The Highlander eventually hit a 2024 Kenworth tractor-trailer before leaving the roadway and striking a ditch.

ALEA said Christian Anthony Poulos, 28, of Mobile, was driving the Highlander and was arrested. He is now in the Mobile County Metro Jail.

Poulos is charged with attempting to elude, first-degree criminal mischief, stopping on highway, resisting arrest, improper lane change, running stop sign, reckless driving, speeding, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief and following too close.

Poulos will appear in court for a bond hearing on Wednesday.

A passenger of the tractor trailer went to a local hospital for medical treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The crash occurred on I-10 near the 20 mile marker in Mobile County.

The investigation remains ongoing. News 5 will provide updates as more information becomes available.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Drivers in Mobile can expect delays on Interstate 10 due to a “moderate crash,” according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.

The crash, located on I-10 eastbound near Exit 20, is blocking two lanes.
