$10,000 reward offered in Augusta murder case

BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — It has been eight months since an Augusta woman was found murdered in her home. On Tuesday, the state announced a $10,000 reward for information that helps solve the case.

The victim was 93-year-old Joanne Johnson. A family member found her body in her home at 1711 Robbins Street last Labor Day weekend. Authorities believe she was killed between Saturday evening, Sept. 2, 2023, and Sunday evening, Sept. 3, 2023.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation) and the Augusta Department of Public Safety have been investigating the murder.

They say that Governor Laura Kelly issued an executive order offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the killer or killers. Johnson’s family is matching the reward offer, which increases it to $10,000.
