18-year-old shot near Edison High School in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An 18-year-old man is in the hospital following a shooting Tuesday afternoon across the street from Edison High School in Fresno, according to the Fresno Police Department.

Officers say they received a ShotSpotter alert at the 500 block of East California Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. Moments later, dispatch began receiving 911 calls reporting a shooting that had just occurred across the street from Edison High School.

Assault rifle found after armed robbery outside Target in Clovis, police say

Police say there was a disturbance near the school that prompted a school lockdown. They were able to confirm one shooting victim, an 18-year-old man, who was shot once in the upper body and once in his lower body. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center.

Investigators say the suspect’s vehicle is a black or dark-colored vehicle.

This is an ongoing investigation. The identity of the person shot has not been officially released.
