1 person dead after crash in Mercer County

One person is dead after an accident Sunday afternoon in Mercer County, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Crews responded to report of a crash at around 4:29 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 127 and State Route 119.

Roel Villarreal, 51, of Edinburg, Texas was driving a semi southbound on U.S. Route 127 when a 2007 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Bradley C. Wendel, 33, of Coldwater was going westbound on State Route 119, the release said.

Wendel failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the semi’s trailer and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Villarreal was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
