$1 million lottery ticket sold in Thomasville

Jan. 9—THOMASVILLE — An Iredell County woman won a $1 million lottery prize with a ticket she purchased in Davidson County, which will bring the store a bonus as well.

Stephanie Lowe of Mooresville bought the $30 Millionaire Maker scratch-off ticket at the Speed Mart on Hasty School Road in Thomasville, according to the NC Education Lottery.

She had the choice of receive the prize as an annuity of $50,000 for 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. When Lowe arrived at lottery headquarters Monday, chose the lump sum and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $429,009.

A retailer who sells a winning jackpot ticket in the Powerball or Mega Millions games earns a $50,000 incentive. A retailer who sells a scratch-off ticket with a $1 million prize or larger gets a $10,000 incentive, according to the N.C. Education lottery.
