'Ridiculous' video of Sunday shooting circulating; police promise arrests

LANSING — Police say video apparently circulating online showing a Sunday shooting in the 200 block of West Barnes Avenue is "ridiculous."

The victim, a 24-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.

During a news conference on another case on Tuesday afternoon, Lansing Police Chief Ellery Sosebee told reporters he had seen video of the incident and described it as "absolutely ridiculous."

"I can assure you that we know who you are," Sosebee said, referring to the responsible parties. "We know who you are. We will arrest you and we will put you behind bars to prevent you from hurting anyone else."

Police said they were dispatched to the scene about 7:45 p.m. Sunday after a report of shots fired, LPD spokesperson Jordan Gulkis said. When officers arrived, they found multiple vehicles had been struck by gunfire.

Shortly afterward, officers were dispatched to a local hospital where the victim was found with a gunshot wound.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing, Gulkis said.
