1 dead, 1 injured after shooting at Antioch apartment complex

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One man died and another man was injured following a shooting at an Antioch apartment complex Friday night.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, officers from the South Precinct responded to the shooting just after 9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12 in the parking lot of Cascade Apartments in the 3300 block of Murfreesboro Pike.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they said they found 23-year-old Vidal York, of Smyrna, lying in the parking lot, so an ambulance rushed him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old who arrived at the apartment complex with York was taken to a hospital by a family member with non-critical injuries, officials said. He was reportedly treated and released.

Police said they believe the shooter fled the apartment complex in a vehicle shortly after the incident.

The motive behind the gunfire has yet to be determined, but Homicide and Specialized Investigation Division detectives are working active leads, according to MNPD.
