United SFO flight delayed for 17+ hours, FAA increases oversight

“I thank SFPD for holding the driver accountable for dangerous driving,” District 1 Supervisor Connie Chan said in a statement to KRON4. “I urge the Mayor and SFMTA to speed up the implementation of all the planned and much needed traffic safety improvements in the Richmond (District) and citywide, including the two speed cameras on Fulton Street… this is why I share our community’s frustration, because clearly we cannot afford any more delays.”

In reaction to the crash, California State Senator Scott Wiener said he is working on legislation for safer streets.

“Yet another car crash at a bus stop,” Wiener posted on X. “The last one killed an entire family. This one injured someone. It doesn’t have to be this way. We can make our roads safer. 4k/yr don’t have to die on CA roads. We’re advancing legislation for safer street design & to stop reckless speeds.”

The driver of the Nissan was cited on scene for multiple moving vehicle violations, SFPD said. The circumstances of how the driver of the involved vehicle struck the pedestrian are unknown at this time.

The crash happened one week after a collision at a West Portal bus stop killed a family of four, including an infant and a 1-year-old baby boy.
