1 in hospital after 2-alarm fire damages Lebanon adult foster care home

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A two-alarm fire at a Lebanon adult foster care home prompted response from emergency crews and left one resident hospitalized early Sunday morning, according to officials.

Just before 1:30 a.m., crews from Lebanon Fire District were dispatched to the report of a fire at an adult foster care home. On arrival, they found the two-story home engulfed in flames.

The facility owners told firefighters they were able to evacuate majority of the residents before crews arrived. However, one person was still inside the home.

Authorities say crews and medic unit forced their way through a locked door, removed the person from the building and took them to a nearby hospital.

Crews then upgraded the fire to second alarm, requesting backup from departments across the county.

Meanwhile, hot embers had been blown across the street, starting another structure on fire. Officials say crews were able to immediately put out that fire and return to the original source.

It reportedly took several hours for crews to extinguish the first fire. Its cause is now currently under investigation.
