According to police, 30-year-old Timothy Gibbons Jr. told officers that he and 63-year-old Alan Howard, a family friend, had been drinking since the night before. Gibbons then said one of Howard’s friends came to the home during the noon hour and that he and Howard got into that person’s vehicle.

Gibbons told investigators Howard became “aggressive” after getting into the car and started hitting Gibbons. That’s when Gibbons allegedly pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and started chambering a round as he had his finger on the trigger, according to investigators.

Police said Howard was then shot in the chest and died from his injuries. Gibbons then got out of the car and told a family member to call police. Howard’s friend was not at the home when officers arrived. Gibbons, however, stayed at the home and told officers he had shot Howard when officers arrived.

Bond for Gibbons has been set at $75,000.
