1 dead, others injured in Sampson County shooting

CLINTON, N.C. (WNCN) — One person is dead and three people are injured after a shooting that prompted a lockdown at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Sampson Regional Medical Center tells CBS 17 they activated “restricted access procedures” at approximately 1:30 p.m. per the guidance of local law enforcement.

According to the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, one of the victims died at Sampson Regional Medical Center and the other three are being treated for their wounds. All four victims were men, according to SCSO.

“Preliminary investigative efforts indicate that the shooting stemmed from an altercation on Boykin Road near Shaun Lane. The investigation is still in the early stages and not much information is currently available,” the department said in a release.

The sheriff’s office said all four victims arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle.

According to a release, the hospital went on lockdown based on the nature of the incident and the unknown variables involved.

The identity of those involved has not been released.
