Teen dead following ‘apparent exchange of gunfire’ in East Nashville, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police are investigating a Monday night shooting in East Nashville that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the shooting happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 4 in the 500 block of Lemont Drive in the Inglewood area.

Authorities reported officers responded to the scene and found 16-year-old Henry Taylor lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Taylor was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center where died.

A preliminary investigation indicates that there was an “apparent exchange of gunfire between separate parties,” officials said.

Investigators are working to determine the motive for the shooting, including why the teen was in the area.

Anyone with information about deadly shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000.

No other information was immediately released.
