1 dead after CHP says driver ignored stop sign, crashed into truck

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – One person is dead after CHP says the driver of a sedan failed to stop at a stop sign in a rural area of Fresno County on Thursday and crashed into a passing truck.

The resulting crash threw the driver of the sedan from the vehicle, officers say. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

IDENTIFIED: Man who died after multi-vehicle crash in Clovis

Officers say the crash took place shortly after 1 p.m. at the intersection of South Elm Avenue and East Conejo Avenue, outside Caruthers. Their investigation established that the sedan was traveling eastbound while the truck was going northbound, and the sedan failed to stop at the stop sign ahead of the intersection.

The driver of the other vehicle involved, a white pickup truck, sustained minor injuries.

The identities of those involved have not been officially released.
