1 dead, 7 injured after crash on I-70 in Missouri
A two vehicle crash killed one and injured seven others on Interstate 70 in St. Charles County Monday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident was reported at 7:42 a.m. CST at mile marker 203, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. All eastbound lanes were closed due to the accident. MoDOT reported at 11:42 a.m. that all lanes of I-70 eastbound at milemarker 204.2 are open again.
The left lane on I-70 Westbound at Route T/W was closed as emergency vehicles respond to accident.
"A band of snow pushed through the area in the early morning hours," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowsi said.
An inch of snow was reported at the St. Louis airport to the east along I-70, according to Pydynowski.
Even after the steadiest snow had ended in the late morning hours, MoDOT reported that the roads east of the accident on I-70 remained partially covered.
