1 Dead, 20 Injured After Shooting at 24-Hour New Jersey Art Festival
Twenty people were injured early Sunday when gunfire broke out during a 24-hour art festival in New Jersey.
Two suspects, who have not been identified by police, opened fire at the Art All Night Trenton festival at around 2:45 a.m., injuring 20 people, including four critically, officials said. The injured also included a 13-year-old boy.
One suspect was killed and a second suspect is in police custody, authorities said.
"Multiple weapons have been recovered," Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said during a news conference Sunday. "Twenty individuals were treated for a variety of gunshot wounds as well as other injuries."
Nearly 1,000 people were in the area when the shots rang out, resulting in a stampede, according to reports.
Police said 16 of the 20 people injured were treated for gunshot wounds. It is not clear how the remaining four were injured.
Organizers for the Art All Night festival said they are “still processing much of this,” in a Facebook post following the shooting.
“We don’t have many answers at this time…,” the post read. “Our sincere, heartfelt sympathies are with those who were injured. We’re very shocked. We’re deeply saddened.”
