Detectives were in the process of interviewing partygoers. Police said many people attended after seeing the party advertised on social media.

FOX31 spoke with neighbors in the area who said partygoers were quick to flee the area when shots were fired.

“I heard two or three single shots, rather slow, and then rapid almost 11 or so shots, really quick, and cars were peeling out a minute or two later,” one neighbor said. “They were teenagers, early 20’s, late teens, most of them were guys, young males.”

That neighbor said nothing like this had happened in the four years they lived there.

Another neighbor, John Romero, said he was shocked that it happened so close to home.

“I heard the sirens, and I woke up and all I heard was people yelling and gunshots,” Romero said. “I’m experienced with hearing all this, so I am asking you, Mr. Governor, I am asking you for the rest of our residents in the state of Colorado, if you could address this somehow, speak to us because it’s not getting any better.”

Commerce City officers said they were working to identify and apprehend a suspect or suspects but said they did not believe there was a threat to the general public.

Police said a small, single-cab, white, older-model pickup truck was involved in the shooting. The truck has five-spoke wheels.

Anyone with information about the truck was asked to call 303-289-3626.
