1 dead 1 injured in South Shore shooting

CHICAGO — A man is dead and another is injured after a shooting on the city’s South Side on Friday afternoon.

According to Chicago police, the shooting occurred just before 2:30 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Euclid Avenue in South Shore.

Officers say the two men, a 36-year-old and a 20-year-old, were standing outside near an alley in the area when a physical altercation broke out and both men suffered gunshot wounds.

Teen accused in Northwest Side burglary string

The 36-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The 20-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police have not confirmed who fired the shots or what led to the altercation.

Police have not provided a description of either individual involved or identified the man killed.

Officers say no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and an investigation is now underway.
