1 dead, 1 injured after crash in Jackson County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man is dead and another is hurt after a crash in Grain Valley Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened on Jefferson Road at Pamela Boulevard around 4:15 p.m., according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report.

Troopers said Christian Lanear, a 20-year-old from Grain Valley, was driving a Chrysler and traveled off the roadway, overcorrected, and returned to the road. According to the report, he began to slide across the center line and collided with a Ford. Jacob Petree, a 29-year-old from Holt, was driving the Ford.

Lanear was killed in the crash, and Petree received “moderate” injuries, according to MSHP. Petree was taken to Centerpoint Hospital.

Lanear was wearing a seatbelt and Petree was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
