1 dead, 1 in custody after incident involving edged weapon

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One man is dead and another man is in custody after a “disturbance at a residence” Monday morning, Multnomah County officials said.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the incident involving an edged weapon around 1:15 a.m. in the 18000 block of Northwest 6th Avenue. They arrived to find a man with significant neck injuries.

“A responding MCSO Deputy and two Portland Police officers immediately began rendering aid until EMS/fire personnel arrived. In spite of life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene,” officials said.

A 42-year-old man remained at the scene and was later taken into custody, officials say.

According to MCSO, the incident is being investigated as a homicide, and there are currently no outstanding suspects.
