6 people injured by gunfire near South Nashville club, convicted felon in custody

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A convicted felon who was out on bond has been arrested in connection with some early morning gunfire near a South Nashville nightclub that left six people wounded, police said.

According to authorities, the shooting was reported just after 2 a.m. in the 400 block of Bell Road on Sunday, April 14.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said a quick response by a group of Specialized Investigations Division TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) detectives to the gunfire near the Soho Lounge on Bell Road led to the arrest of 24-year-old Erik Dewaun Williams on six counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon.

Officials said TITANS detectives were on special assignment in the Bell Road area when a 911 call came in about people with guns who were fighting.

As law enforcement responded to the scene, they reportedly saw Williams holding a pistol. Authorities said he threw it down when he noticed them and tried to run, but he was taken into custody and his gun was recovered.

Six people were injured by gunfire from at least two individuals that allegedly occurred as the result of an argument. As of Sunday afternoon, all of the victims are in stable condition, according to the MNPD.

“Williams is accused of, at minimum, contributing to the gunfire,” police said, adding that everyone involved in the incident had been at the Soho Lounge.

Officials said three of the victims — an 18-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man, all from Columbia, Tennessee — arrived at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in the same private vehicle.

Meanwhile, the three other victims — described by authorities as a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, both from Columbia, and a 20-year-old woman from Spring Hill — left in a private vehicle that crashed at the intersection of Bell Road and Murfreesboro Pike. They were reportedly taken from the crash scene to VUMC.

At the time of his arrest on Sunday, police said Williams was free on a $50,000 bond in relation to a pending 2022 grand jury indictment that also charges him with felony reckless endangerment and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon. He is set to appear in Criminal Court next month for that previous case.

Law enforcement said Williams — who is currently being held in the Downtown Detention Center on a $300,000 bond — has prior convictions in Rutherford County from 2018 and Sumner County from 2021.

According to officials, detectives from the Non-Lethal Shooting Unit are following up on this investigation. No additional details have been released about this incident.
