About 1,600 Conn. state workers to receive raises
About 1,600 non-union Conn. managers, appointees to receive raises; none for agency heads
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- About 1,500 non-union state managers and about 90 appointees will soon get a pay raise.
In a memo obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press, Connecticut Office of Policy and Management Secretary Ben Barnes said non-union managers will be awarded a 3 percent cost of living adjustment effective July 1, plus an annual increment Sept. 3. That group of about 1,500 people has not received any raises since 2008.
About 90 appointees will receive a 3 percent cost of living increase effective July 1.
Both increases were included in Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's budget.
Commissioners, senior appointees in the governor's office, state agency heads — including Barnes — and other senior officials will not get a raise.
Barnes said those employees understood their compensation was fixed during Malloy's term.
