1.6 million Black+Decker steamers recalled due to burn hazard

(WHTM) — Empower Brands is offering refunds to consumers after recalling 1.6 million Black+Decker garment steamers this week due to a burn hazard.

The recall comes as an expansion of a previous recall of more than 500,000 steamers, issued in November 2022.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall affects BLACK+DECKER Model HGS011 Easy Garment Steamers, which the commission says can expel, spray, or leak hot water during use.

The recalled steamers were sold in a variety of colors with the name “BLACK+DECKER” located at the base and a large handle. The steamers measure about 11 inches high by 6 inches wide.
