1 of 6 little dogs found in Gulf Shores needs surgery; animal shelter asks for donations

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) — An animal shelter says they have an urgent need after a small dog rescued after it was seen running in the road was found to need surgery.

Last week six small dogs were rescued by Angie’s Dog House after they were found near the Pine Beach Trail Head on Fort Morgan Road darting in and out of traffic, according to previous reporting.

Officials with Angie’s Dog House shared in a Facebook post that one of those dogs is still not out of the woods.

“William Turner is one of those babies and we were made aware he has a luxating patella and will require an orthopedic surgery,” the rescue wrote.

A luxating patella “is a kneecap that ‘pops out’ or moves out of its normal location,” according to VCA Animal Hospitals.

The rescue notes that it will be “quite costly” to help William Turner with surgery, and say they would be “absolutely thankful if anyone would be willing to donate towards this operation so this little guy can get to feeling better.”
