$1.09 million in match funds announced by Governor Justice for West Virginia infrastructure advancements

CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) — More than $1 million in non-federal match funds were announced by Governor Justice for infrastructure advancements in the Mountain State.

$1,093,000.00 million in non-federal match funds to Congressionally Directed Spending, announced by Governor Justice, will help deal with community needs as well as help the infrastructure in the state.

These investments demonstrate our dedication to crucial improvements in the state’s infrastructure, and I am proud that we are able to provide this support. These matches are not only a boost to the state’s economic growth but also enhance the quality of life for our citizens. Governor Justice

The places the funds will go to include:

  • Town of Alderson – Greenbrier and Monroe Counties: The Town of Alderson received $372,000 from the US EPA, and a $93,000 non-federal match from the Governor’s Office. These funds will go toward the Town of Alderson’s Water System Rehabilitation and Expansion Project and will handle the pre-award expenses and design phase of a water project. The project will help upgrade the existing water system, as well as expanding service to Riverside Rest, and helping fire protection and water service reliability in Summers, Greenbrier, and Monroe counties.

  • Shady Spring Public Service District (PSD) – Raleigh County: Shady Spring PSD received $2 million from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), along with a $500,000 non-federal match from the Governor’s Office. The funds will go towards the Glen Morgan Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade to expand and replace equipment and bring the capacity to 1.6 million gallons per day, and to help prevent equipment failures.

  • Berkeley County Public Service Water District – Berkeley County: The Berkeley County PSD received $3 million from the US EPA, and a $500,000 non-federal match from the Governor’s Office. In addition to those funds, the Berkeley County PSD provided an additional $250,000. The money will go towards Bunker Hill Water Mainline Upgrades to upgrade the Bunker Hill water mainline to increase the capacity of water that is treated and distributed, to help people in Berkeley County.
