'Girl Meets World' casts Cory and Topanga's son, plus everything we know so far about the Disney Channel sequel

'Girl Meets World' Casts Cory & Topanga's Son

"Girl Meets World," the new Disney Channel sequel to the '90s sitcom "Boy Meets World," has added Teo Halm to its cast as Elliott, the son of Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel).

As we learned in January, the title girl character, the couple's daughter Riley, will be played by "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World" star Rowan Blanchard.

Fishel tweeted her excitement over the casting news:

Apparently, finding Halm -- a newcomer with a few commercial credits and a role in the James Franco-directed biopic of writer Charles Bukowski -- wasn't easy.

The spinoff takes place a decade after "Boy Meets World." In that series, we last saw Cory and Topanga married and headed to New York City so she could intern at a law firm.

In "Girl Meets World," Cory has followed in the footsteps of his mentor Mr. Feeny, to become a schoolteacher. Riley, meanwhile, has her own Shawn Hunter -- best friend Maya Fox (Sabrina Carpenter).

As to the real Shawn Hunter making an appearance on the spinoff, Rider Strong has "no official involvement" yet but is open to the idea. "There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot," he wrote on his website, "and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years."

Production for "Girl Meets World" begins later this month for consideration on Disney Channel's 2013-14 schedule.
