'Dancing With the Stars' Week 4 Recap: Aly Raisman Grabs Gold on 'Best Year of Their Lives' Week

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times on Monday's "Dancing With the Stars," as the 10 remaining celebs danced to a "Best Year of Their Lives" theme. But who had the best dance of the night?

That title went to gymnast Aly Raisman, who chose to pay tribute to the year 2012 because it was the year she competed in the Olympic Games in London.

Aly revealed that the song she and partner Mark Ballas danced to -- David Guetta's "Titanium" -- was the song that she listened to every day before her practices. And while the tune clearly gave the three-time Olympic medalist some extra strength, so did the show of support from her gymnastic teammates, Gabby Douglas and Kyla Ross, who cheered her on from the audience.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba called Aly and Mark's contemporary dance "the beauty of perfect movement and the perfect emotional connection." The couple earned 27 points, the top score of the night.

Here's the scoop on who else put their best foot forward for this week's "Best Year" theme, and who almost went home sick.

A Housewife Heads to the Hospital

In what was a major medical mishap, "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Lisa Vanderpump fainted during rehearsals for this week's dance, making her return to the dancing competition questionable. And at the show's start, host Tom Bergeron announced the reality star restaurateur had been ill all day and was resting.

Lisa revealed on her blog for People that she had felt exhausted and that everything felt "off" before she passed out. "The doctor found that I had a viral infection with fever and swollen glands," she wrote. "And between trying to fight that and all of the stress on my body from running around, I ended up with low blood pressure and a rapid heart rate, which is why I fainted. I am still fighting the bug and feeling under the weather but I am staying in the game as long as they say I can."

And stayed she did. Despite being visibly under the weather, Lisa managed to get through her cha cha with partner Gleb Savchenko. While they were dinged due to lack of rehearsal time (not to mention a lift, as the lift police were out and Carrie Ann made it clear she would be taking a point off of their score), they did a respectable job on the dance, which paid tribute to the year Lisa's daughter, Pandora, got married. Lisa and Gleb jammed to the Kool & the Gang song "Celebration" and scored 18 points, tying for last place.

Personal Bests

Reigning leaderboard champ Kellie Pickler showcased 2011, the year she got married, and was serenaded by her groom to boot! The "American Idol" alum impressed the judges as she danced a rumba with pro partner Derek Hough to the song "Say I Do," a ballad that her husband, Nashville songwriter Kyle Jacobs, wrote for their wedding. Jacobs even performed the song, giving him a bird's-eye view of his wife's intimate dance with another man. (But don't worry -- last week, Kellie told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres her man isn't jealous of her sultry dances with Derek: "My husband knows; he always knows he's always going to get the last dance," she said.) While the judges noted a few unusual movements in the dance, Carrie Ann told Kellie, "You make the most beautiful pictures with your body." Score: 26 points and a second-place leaderboard slip.

Zendaya Coleman is only 16, so she didn't have many years to choose from. The Disney star even joked, "I'm only 16 -- I hope my best years are ahead of me." Still, she worked with what she had, and that meant it was time to go back to 2009, the year that jump-started her career. Zendaya channeled her inner Beyoncé for a powerful samba with Derek Hough, prompting Carrie Ann to call her "Samba Fierce." While Len Goodman said he would have liked to have seen a bit more samba content in the dance, Zendaya tied with Kellie for second place this week.

Andy Dick revealed that 2013 has been his best year so far, due to his newfound sobriety. So it meant a lot to the comedian to be able to redeem himself in his kids' eyes -- especially his 15-year-old daughter's, who sat front and center in the audience. Andy dedicated the dance to his daughter, saying, "She used to dance for me. She doesn't anymore -- she's 15." The 47-year-old's Viennese waltz -- his best dance of the season by far -- left Carrie Ann Inaba bawling. She compared the dance to a "simple poem" and said, "What you said with the movements was so beautiful." Even Len couldn't kill the emotional mood. He told Andy, "You came on this show a man; you'll go out a hero."

Andy makes Carrie Ann cry: 

Sean Lowe chose the year 2012 as his best year, thanks to his fiancée-finding stint on "The Bachelor." He even incorporated his ladylove, Catherine Giudici, into his Viennese waltz by sashaying over to the audience to kiss her at the end. Judges Len and Bruno Tonioli were all smiles after the dance, but Carrie Ann called out the 28-year-old entrepreneur for two "major lifts."

Victor Ortiz rocked the Queen song "We Will Rock You" with a boxing-themed dance that drummed up memories of his 2011 WBC championship. But was the routine more about punches than paso doble? Bruno told him, "You definitely punched the daylights out of the paso doble. The thing is, you're supposed to dance it, not destroy it!"

D.L. Hughley has already declared that the "Dancing With the Stars" judges are bullies -- especially Len -- and has accused them of crossing the line with their harsh critiques of his dancing. The comedian told E! Online that he didn't appreciate not being able to defend himself: "This experience is starting to be horrible for me," he said after last week's show. "It's not fun. It's like going to school and the principal has it out for you." So how did he stand up to the "bullies'"?

Well, it seems that the tough love worked! D.L.'s foxtrot (the theme: eighth grade, "before life became real") earned him his highest score of the season, a whopping 21 points. And while he had braced himself for the worst ("In the best year of my life, Len wasn't there," he quipped), the comedian was so shocked by his score of triple 7s that he fell to his knees and declared, "That's higher than my SAT score!"

"General Hospital" star Ingo Rademacher saluted the year 2009, when he married wife Ehiku. Although he had achieved soap opera stardom by that time, he said his life really started when he met his wife and had kids. While Len cited a couple of "arm incidents" with Ingo's Viennese waltz, Bruno called the dance "elegant, dashing, and deeply romantic."

And 2012 was a very good year for Jacoby Jones. Not only did his 2012 NFL season with the Ravens culminate in a Super Bowl win, but it was also the year his son was born. Jacoby's partner Karina Smirnoff told Parade she wasn't familiar with this week's song -- Rodney Atkins's "Watching You" -- before Jacoby introduced her to it. But she said, "He loved the lyrics and realized, 'I want to have a son.'" Jacoby's baby boy was in the audience, making it a very emotional dance for the NFL star. And the emotion paid off. Carrie Ann told the Super Bowl champ, "I think you have a real shot at winning this." Touchdown!
