'Weird Al' Yankovic Begs North Korea Not to Nuke Us on 'John Oliver'

“We’re just a bunch of simple, fidget-spinning, goofy dorks who probably couldn’t find your country on a map”

By Sam Sodomsky.

“Weird Al” Yankovic gave a rousing performance last night on John Oliver’s HBO show, “Last Week Tonight.” During a segment in which Oliver discussed the growing tensions between North Korea and the United States, he attempts to illustrate our misconceptions “through the international language of accordion” and invites Yankovic on stage to perform. In an upbeat polka song, “Weird Al” repeatedly begs North Korea not to “turn us into cinder while we’re swiping right on Tinder,” and admits, “We’re just a bunch of simple, fidget-spinning, goofy dorks who probably couldn’t find your country on a map.” Watch it go down below (starting around 24:08). A career-spanning box set of “Weird Al” Yancovic’s music is due out later this year: It’s packaged in a replica of his accordion.
