The Weeknd Teases Forthcoming Short Film 'Mania'

The Weeknd is reuniting with "Starboy" video director Grant Singer for his forthcoming short film titled Mania.

Hours after delivering a chilly performance of his new album's title track at the 2016 American Music Awards on Sunday night, the Canadian singer born Abel Tesfaye released a trippy trailer -- featuring a sleek whip, black panther, a woman and other striking images -- on his Twitter.

While The Weeknd offered no release date for the "visual piece," he assured that it would be coming soon. The XO legion could expect the flick to drop before his Starboy album goes wide Friday.

The Weeknd has already rolled out four tracks from the 18-track LP, including "Party Monster," "False Alarm" and a pair of Daft Punk collaborations: "Starboy" and "I Feel It Coming."

Last September, The Weeknd's sophomore set Beauty Behind the Madness (via XO/Republic Records) debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
