The Weeknd's new album Starboy includes a number of high profile features, such as Daft Punk, Lana Del Rey and Future. Kendrick Lamar is also on the project -- a collaboration The Weekend discussed with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 that holds particular significance.
Aside from calling Lamar "a genius," in an interview that airs at the turn of midnight Friday when Starboy is released, The Weekend described the rapper's creative process, pacing around writing his verse over the course of a day in the studio.
"It wasn't just a random Kendrick Lamar verse," he said. "It was something special because, again, I don't like to say this all the time, but we've known each other for a while and it's crazy how we started connecting on this record."
Elsewhere, he also talked working with Daft Punk on the album's title track and "I Feel It Coming," his sobriety, performance anxiety and -- of course -- cutting his hair (turns out he kept it).
