The Weeknd Earns Most Spotify Streams in Single Day

By Matthew Strauss.

The Weeknd has set the new record for most Spotify streams in a single day, the company confirmed. The achievement follows the release of his third studio album, Starboy, which features contributions from Daft Punk, Lana Del Rey, Kendrick Lamar, and more. The Weeknd unseats Justin Bieber, whose music was streamed 36 million times on November 13, 2015.

This past May, Drake became Spotify’s most streamed artist of all time, also replacing Bieber in the top spot. In October, his “One Dance” became the service’s most streamed song ever, accruing over 880 million streams when it took the record from Major Lazer, DJ Snake, and MØ’s “Lean On.”
