With most modern artists enlisting an entourage of names to construct their music, singer Meghan Linsey refuses to fall into that routine. Instead, she gets help from her friends and is the creative focal point for her new music video for "Exes and Friends," premiering exclusively on Billboard.
"I have never been so proud of a video. Everything came together so effortlessly and I got to work with some incredibly talented people. Zachary Halley and Bridget Berger directed the video, and they were the best creative partners I could have asked for," Linsey told Billboard. "They really wanted me to stay true to myself, but they definitely pushed me out of my box in the best way possible. We really had the dream team working on this thing, which is a pretty incredible feat considering we worked on a shoestring budget and many people donated their time."
With Halley and Berger making their directorial debut, Linsey used her creativity to be fully involved in her new project and even managed to style herself for the video. "Being an independent artist gives me a lot of creative freedom," Linsey told Billboard. "I'm hands on with everything from writing the treatment to editing. I even did my own hair, makeup and styling. "
The video keenly follows Linsey through an issue where she's dealing with an ex-lover while singing, "Somewhere between exes and friends, that's where we are." They run into each other at a party, and that's where the video creatively takes off.
