Hip-hop suffered a tragic loss earlier this year when Phife Dawg passed away at the age of 45, but on Saturday night (Nov. 12), the MC was honored on SNL by the remaining members of A Tribe Called Quest, who had just released new album We Got It From Here, Thank You 4 Your Service as a tribute to their fallen member the day before.

"We are all one. We are the people," Q-Tip announced before he and Jarobi White launched into "We The People…," an acidic new track from their sixth studio album. Midway through the track, Phife's verse was announced with a flag unfurled onstage adorned with his face, which Q-Tip and Jarobi started rapping to for the rest of the song.

Later, Tribe returned to perform "The Space Program," and received some special help from Busta Rhymes and Consequence. Throughout the set, Jarobi wore a t-shirt with one word on it: PHIFE.
